We regret having to share the sad news of Helga Leidel’s passing on January 3, 2026 at the age of 89. She had recently received a tribute from CKC for 50 years of dedicated service to the Boxer breed. In her many years of loving and raising dogs she created a community of caring people who shared her passion for this breed. Seeing and hearing from the families who have welcomed and loved her dogs, has been one of her greatest joys. She was fortunate to be able to continue her efforts to breed mentally and physically sound Boxers who would fill their new families’ homes with the same joy they brought her, right until the very end of her life.
The Tanoak Kennel name will be retired, however there are still upcoming litters who will be raised and sold by her long time associates listed below. We will maintain this Website and the associated email until May 2026, after that all inquiries should be directly to the breeders listed below. Upcoming and available litters will be listed on this website until that time.
If you have any questions or concerns with dogs you have purchased from Tanoak you may contact Helga’s daughter, Simone Ross, at 613-914-7731 0r by email at psf.ross@outlook.com. I will do my best to help you in any way possible with whatever issues you may have.
Anyone who has received a puppy from Helga with a contract including breeding rights or return for a litter of puppies should be aware that these contracts are considered as completed. This means you may spay or neuter your dog if you so desire. If you wish to breed, I would highly recommend reaching out to one of the breeders listed below to see if they are willing to mentor and work with you. There are a lot of potential pitfalls to breeding any dog, if you have never bred a dog before, please make sure you have experienced help and support on hand.
